New from Gibson: 2019 Electric Highlights
This year, Gibson is back with a vengeance! At the NAMM show back in January, we were excited to see countless examples of gorgeous tops, impeccable quality, and a sense of Gibson's return to their roots in their new releases. Now that they're arriving in store, we wanted to share with you some of our favorites.
60th Anniversary Les Paul Standard
Gibson Custom Shop's 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Standards are not just a tribute to the priceless original models - they're clones of them. Just about everyone in the store is in love with these tops, and each of them is a little bit different. We've gotten in five of these so far, all with different finishes. Which is your favorite? Here are just a few of them; feel free to check out our Instagram for more.
Les Paul Standard '50s
The new Les Paul Standard returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played and loved - shaping sound across generations and genres of music. It pays tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation and brings authenticity back to life. This Gold Top is one of Diz's top picks from the new lineup.
Les Paul Standard '60s
Here's a piece from out latest batch of Gibson: the Les Paul Standard '60s, with its solid mahogany body, AA figured maple top, and slim taper 60's-style mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. We love the smoldering Iced Tea finish on this one!
'57 Les Paul Special
Are you a fan of TV Yellow? If so, you're in luck: Gibson has reintroduced the iconic shade in their new '57 LP Special Single Cut Reissue, which looks vintage and plays exquisitely. Beth enjoys the color and design of this one, as well as the history behind it.
A striking beauty in a cool Pelham Blue, this baby is yet another example of the vintage feel of the new 2019 Gibsons. This early '60s style SG Special has the vibe and sound heard on countless classic rock recordings, and it plays great! Our Vintage Sparkling Burgundy specimen prompted Terry to exclaim, "Now that's what a Gibson should look like!"
FADED PELHAM BLUE
The New Flying V
Here's the first opened of our first batch of new 2019 Gibsons: the classic Flying V. Introduced in 1958 and only made in limited quantities, the Flying V has taken flight over the years along with legions of followers. Now it's back for 2019, and in a gorgeous Antique Natural finish. Jack particularly loves this model due to the vintage feel of the natural finish.
Les Paul Classic
The Gibson Les Paul Classic combines the early 60's style Les Paul model with some functional and time-tested modifications. As expected, the LP Classic is crafted with a mahogany back and maple top coupled with a slim taper mahogany neck and bound, rosewood fingerboard. This Translucent Cherry model is Jesse's favorite: he's definitely a fan of the more classic Les Paul look with the white binding and pickguard.
Les Paul Studio
The Les Paul Studio embodies the essential Les Paul features with enhancements for playability and tonal versatility. The rosewood fingerboard and slim taper mahogany neck provide effortless playability and comfort, and Diz is especially a fan of this hot Tangerine Burst finish.
Les Paul Modern
The new Gibson Les Paul Modern incorporates many contemporary updates that players have embraced such as lighter-weight bodies and innovative slim taper neck with asymmetrical profiles. Hardware upgrades include Grover locking Rotomatic tuners, clear top hat knobs and BurstBucker Pro and BurstBucker Pro + pickups. We love this shade of Faded Pelham Blue!
